The Challenge

15 Minutes Too Many

Cardiologists in busy hospital settings were spending an average of 15+ minutes manually interpreting a single ECG. In emergency scenarios — STEMI, arrhythmias, life-threatening events — every minute matters. Existing tools were designed for desktop, forcing doctors to move between devices mid-workflow. The goal was to design a mobile-first experience that puts AI-powered interpretation directly in the doctor's hands, at the point of care.

Design Process

How We Got There

01
Research
Shadowed 8 cardiologists across 3 hospitals. Ran contextual interviews to map their ECG interpretation workflow, pain points, and handoff friction.
02
Define
Synthesised findings into a core problem statement and user flows. Prioritised speed, legibility under stress, and one-handed operation.
03
Design
Rapid wireframing in FigJam, then high-fidelity prototypes in Figma. Iterated 4 rounds based on doctor feedback on waveform clarity and AI panel placement.
04
Test
Moderated usability tests with 12 doctors using Maze. Measured task completion time and error rate on triage scenarios.
